  2. I've been recently working on a Knee joint model . I need to find the contact force vector between two particular components. I have been getting a lot of errors and unable to run the model. All the contact pairs and properly defined and I am able to generate all typical outputs except for contact output. please help me out. The output blocks defined so far are node and element outputs for all 8 components defined. Thanks in advance!
  3. Hello to all, I'm trying to model a wheel that rotates on a plane without slipping, but that can lift off the floor when it's needed. I used the contact command and Poissoin's algorithm, but I wonder if there is another way to do it. Is it necessary to write a subroutine? thank you
  4. Dear All, Please help me out with mentioned errors.

    Hello, I have a Model with 2 Load Steps. I applied a force just in one direction with differnet magnitude . For load step 1 =4000N and for load step 2= 10000N. (I do not use CNTNLSUB) I wonder, why the force vs. displacement curve is not equal for both load steps until 4000N. So the stresse are actually also not equal at the same force magnitude. Do somebody has an idea? Attached a Diagram of the 2 curves (force vs displacement), and the model files .fem and .h3d kleines_Loch__plastisch.h3d

    Hi, I've started to use Radioss few days ago, and I'm performing an impact analysis on a vehicle component. Actually I'm not able to find the Autocontact tool (as in Hypermesh Optistruct) in order to set all the contact surfaces. Can you tell me where could I find it please? Thanks in advance
  7. Hello, I have set a Nonlinear quasi static analysis (type NLSTAT) with two consequent load steps (using CNTNLSUB option). In my model two parts are gradually getting in contact (something similar as roller - plane contact), where also friction is taken into account. In the first step a radial force is pushing the roller towards the plane and in the second step additional lateral force is applied. Everything works fine, the results seem meaningful. Now I would like to set a first load step with contact type SLIDE and the second (continuous) load step with friction in contact. Is this possible in Optistruct? Thanks for your help!   8. radioss to optistruct conversion

    Hi, I am having a radioss bus structure file with min. element size of 5 mm used for crash simulation and now I want to use the same file for static and non-linear quasistaic analysis in optistruct If I go to optistruct will all contacts be detected as it is in radioss and is recommended this way or generate separate file for it. As the structure size is large, meshing will take more time and thus wanted to avoid making new file. Thank you

    Hello, I want to simulate a rivet Joint just applied shear force. Between the rivet and the hole in the metal Sheets is a gap. I get convergence but the rivet turns a Little. u can see it if u watch the displacement Contour plot on the rivet which is not symmetric. Is that because of the coarse mesh? I tried to use gap elements but maybe i put some wrong Setting. attachted are the model. Can anybody help me to fix the Problem? rivet_joint.zip

At first time and second time step I would like to apply a pressure At the second time step I would like to apply Relative movement ( with the presure along with friction applied)between two bodies.   11. Hi together, i try to visualize the contact forces (normal and tangential) of a type 2 interface in radioss. Is there a engine keyword to visualize the contact force as Animation, so that one can see it in hyperview ? I use Interface type 2 with spotflag 20. This means, that a contact force is calculated in order to compare the result to the rupture criterium. I would like to visualize this contact force. Thanks in advance! Greetings, Sebastian

    Hello everyone! I need your help. Fllowing picture shows the case i want to simulate. I have a problem to create the contact between the component and rigid walls.   14. Irregular contact force

    Good morning, I am modeling a rotor composed by three components: shaft, magnet and surrounding fiber. I would like to evaluate the effect of thermal expansion, simulating the contact between the three components. I have some difficulties with contacts (the contact force is not constant, as expected). Differences are quite small, but I would like to ask you if there are any errors in my model or if there are any possibilities to obtain better results (I have already tried with s2s option in contact definition and with expertnl param).   15. Hi All how should I choose the external surface of a spherical shape as a surface , when I also have meshed it ? I tried elements but the problem was that I could not use any option to select all the elements on the external surface, options like adjacent ,etc don't work

    Hi all I was watching a video on youtube , where the contact creation brings the user to choose among the Contact Type 7 or Type 11, but what I see in lower versions is just CONTACT, GROUND, CONVECTION ,...etc I would like to know how to choose the Contact type in versions 13 and lower
  17. SPCF-Problem

    Hey, I try to simulate a large displacement movement and have a problem. I got two simulations and want to evaluate the SPC-Forces, which are completely different, although the model is the same. The constraint is placed in the middle of the green component and connected to it, with rigids (see Figure). In the first simulation, the total displacement of the green component is 350mm (due to constraint) in x-direction. In the second simulation the total displacement is 50mm. When I evaluate the force-displacement plots and compare them, the results are completely different, which makes no sense. For example, in the first model the force at 50mm displacement is 6,7e+05 N. But for the second model, the force at 50mm is only 8,19e+04 N. But they should be totally the same to my opinion. Somebody any hints? Greets Elvis

  19. Hi all, In my model, there are many contacts. From the result, I found the contact energy was large. How can I find which contact makes the large contact energy? In LS-DYNA, each contact energy can be output separately. However, in Radioss, it seems that we can only output total contact energy through global variables. Best Wishes Roy

  21. Two bodies are connected by means of bearing (upper race and lower race bolted to respective bodies). Detailed analysis (ignore bearing model) is not required. What type of connections could be given between two components? Can we assume a block instead of bearing, and give what type of connections?
  22. No elements added to BSURF card

    Hello, I have updated the software from the 14 to the 2017.1 version and when I am trying to select the 2D elements to add to the BSURF group in order to define contact in a BCTSET card in NX Nastran user profile, no elements are selected. Is this a bug of the software or has there been a change in the way to specify contact of which I am not aware of? Thanks in advance.

    I have 2 parts forming t section whose midsurface is extracted which creates gap between the parts,to overcome the same i extended the one surface and projected on other , after meshing nodes gets merged is their any need to define contact between the parts as i want to fix these parts ?
  24. Dear all, I am trying to define a multi-body deformable surface contact for Optistruct using MBDCNTDS type of interface. Below image shows the doc page for this type of interface. As the docs say, I have made an MBDSRF type node set to use as the deformable surface. I am able to pass this MBDSRF type of set into the SRFID entry of the MBDCNTDS . So no issues with the deformable surface part. However, when I try to make a node set for the SID1 entry in MBDCNTDS, it will not accept any of my node sets which are saved as entity sets. I have tried using many different card images (SET_GRID and many other), still, the SID1 entry of the MBDCNTDS I'm setting up will not see my node set. I would be grateful if you could share any information with me regarding the type of node set I should use which can be passed into the SID1 entry of MBDCNTDS.
