  2. Hello Everyone, I have a complete model in Hypermesh: components, mesh, materials, properties, .... I would like to export that model from Hypermesh to Ansys Workbench, so that someone who does not work with Hypermesh can use Workbench. Firstly, I followed the tutorial HM-4410 from Hypermesh Help (https://altairhyperworks.com/hwhelp/Altair/hw13.0/help/hm/introduction_to_ansys_model_setup_-_hm-4410.htm?toc=0&printWindow). Then, I added sensors for different types of elements and I export a .cdb file; as you can read in the tutorial. Later, I imported the flie .cdb to Ansys Workbench following a You Tube video (How to import Meshed file from hypermesh to ansys). However, when I open the Model clicking twice on the tap Finite Element Modeler, Ansys can't show all type of elements specifically elements 1D (mass, rod, beam, rigids, etc). In my case, the model has rigid, spring, shell, rod and beam elements; so I am reading in several tutorials and forums that rigid elements don't need a sensor but Ansys can't read them. My question is: what do I have to do to get an identical model in hypermesh and ansys? The pictures below show a simple model with that problem. In the first one you can see the hypermesh model with 1580 nodes and 1498 elements (shell, rigid, mass), and the other two pictures depict the ansys model (Finite element model). Ansys model has 1580 nodes and 1495 elements, so the three rigids elements (CERIG) haven not been read. Thank you for your time.
  3. Hi, im looking to import a NASTRAN mesh into ANSYS. This can be done directly in workbench, but a lot of information is lost. Specifically I would like to maintain named selections / components - so my strategy was to bring the Nastran bdf into hypermesh, create my groups there, and then export as a cdb before importing it into workbench The problem is whenever I export to cdb I only get nodes in the *.cdb, no elements. I am using Hypermesh 14.0 - anyone have a workaround for this? Thanks ! Tyler

  6. HyperMesh to ANSYS | Element type

    Hello Support team, I am using HyperMesh 14.0 and ANSYS workbench 17.0 (ANSYS Mechanical). I am performing a Explicit dynamic analysis on 2 bodies which are non-linear. I am using HyperMesh for meshing only and all other things (Material selection, Boundary conditions, Analysis set-up) are performed in ANSYS explicit dynamics model. However, my question is about element type selection. Could you please tell me which element type should select in this scenario? I used Solid185, but I didn't get any results with this. Would you suggest me any other ET Type? Also, if you have any document which would guide me through this process (Meshing > Set element type > Export to ANSYS), it would be great.   8. Hypermesh to Ansys

    1> I am importing assembly mesh from hypermesh 13.0 to ansys 17.2 but i am getting only one component meshed. Ex. supposed I have 5 parts in my assembly, I did all 5 parts different meshing in different component and assign different material properties. But when i am importing mesh to ansys only 1 component was exported. I had check this option " All component Exported". 2> If I have some component in 2D and some component in 3D how to export both meshing in single files.
  9. Hey everyone, I'm experiencing issues exporting a meshed model with multiple components to ANSYS. The model is set up in order to generate an appropriate shell mesh of our CFRP Monocoque with the control arms modelled as 1-D bars for a torsional stiffness analysis with ANSYS. After generating a shell mesh of the imported surface geometry (STEP file), multiple nodes have been created in Hyperworks using the XYZ coordinate definition; with these, bar elements were created and written in a separate component. So in total there are two components containing the shell mesh and the bar elements respectively. The further procedure of setting the correct element types and real sets for ANSYS corresponds to the one presented by HM-4410 in the Altair Knowledge base, so the appropriate Element Types and Real Sets have been assigned without Hypermesh displaying anymore problems or errors. When exporting the model, apparently only the content of the (chronologically) first component is being written in the CDB file, though. When opening the ANSYS FE-Modeler, only the shell mesh is displayed for further processing. When changing the order of the components in the model tree, only the bar elements appear in the ANSYS module. Further processing of the exported components works just fine, the other one is simply missing. In Hypermesh, Export was set to 'All' and 'custom' after checking all components for export with no success. I'm currently having trouble identifying the problem, I hope this was enough information.   11. Entity sets for Contact modeling

    Hello, I am modeling contact stress in the patellofemoral joint. I have models that have been meshed and made in Hypermesh and are being exported into a .cdb file to be read and analyzed using ANSYS 14.5. I have created a entity set in Hypermesh of nodes to allow me to use the contact wizard in ANSYS. I have been able to successfully import the model and run my simulation however the models are not initiating contact. I was talking with my PI and he suggested that perhaps the entity set is causing the nodes to lose association with their corresponding nodes. This is preventing contact from occurring. Is this the case? And if so how do I remedy the situation?
  12. ANSYS Thermal Results in Hyperview

    Hello -- trying to use Hyperview to look at thermal results from ANSYS. Have done this in the past at my company using P/Thermal (GE code) and now I am working for a different customer who requires ANSYS analysis. There seems to be no how-tos on the process to view temperature results in Hyperview for .rth files. Has anyone done this before and can help with some basic steps?

  14. Exporting a Hypermesh file to Ansys

    I have a model of chassis of a truck. I need to perform stress analysis on it in Ansys. Is there any problem importing a Hypermesh file to Ansys Workbench? How do I import it on workbench? Is it possible to do the same on Ansys APDL? PS: Since it is an assembly file with 19 components, I've been told that solving in APDL will be difficult & inaccurate. Kindly help.
  15. Symmetry

    People who used ANSYS will be knowing about the Symmetry BC there. Is it possible to do the same in hyperworks also? If you have to give both symmetry constraints and fixed constraints can we give it in the same load collector?
