  1. First of all, sorry if I added this question not according to the official Terms of use. It´s my first question... The problem itself is quite easy to solve i quess. I want to create a 2D mesh that is more coarse in one direction than in the other. In my case I want to have only 3 sections in the y-direction and very fine sections in x-direction. I created the geometry by first connecting 2 nodes with a linear line. Then I created a Surface by dragging along a vector. The mesh was then created by AutoMesh. Thanks in adcvance! Cheers

I have meshed my wing and when I run the simulations for RCS I get the following error: ''ERROR 240: A triangle is too small or EPSENT is too large'' It worked for me when I had half wing but when I use full wing by mirroring it gives me error. I also tried making Union between components but still gives me error... You can find my model attached herewith. Looking forward to some helpful advice. Thank you! Try.cfx

The __cad_dir.zip is not a readable .zip file. No mesh is generated for the model data base. I haven't found the python script file "pnlAmsExport.py" to see what it's doing.

    Checking elements after meshing gives some percentage of element failed then how much percentage is acceptable.

    How do I know the convergence of mesh size in my model? Is there a method to know if the mesh has converged?
  8. Solid Mapping issue

    Hello, I am trying to 3D mesh this solid part by using solid mapping. I tried "trim with surf" to make the part mappable but I don't think I can create surfaces/divisions good enough for solid mapping.I am also attaching the partially trimmed version. Which method I should follow to make the rectangular sides mappable and get rid of the red layer in the cylindrical part? Thank you in advance, Muge
  9. I have a full vehicle with Body, Chassis, Suspension, Axle, Cabin, Floor, Roof, Glass, Windshield, Tyre, etc.. in actual manner as in complete assembly. 2D components are present. Now I want to create 3D in a single component for all the 2D components for my analysis. I don't have enough time to mesh all components in 3D & connect. I want to transform the 2D comp to 3D, the may be I can connect all the solids together into 1 component. Please suggest an option. Is there any Batchmesh available or may be tcl script? The Sample 3D model pic is shared for reference. I want the same thing.
  10. Decrease diameter of cylindrical die

    Hi; I'm working on Hypermesh V13.0 and I have to mesh a cylindrical die oncoming from Solidworks ( Save as .STEP AP203). On Hypermesh I want to decrease the external diameter of the die for exemple I want to mesh the die with this different diameter : Ø40 / Ø35 / Ø30 / Ø25. This operation is possible with Solidworks but it's very long lasting because I have to mesh 14 die with four different Ø (--> 56 similary meshing). And for my simulation is better if I have the same meshing on every diameter. My approach for this is : 1st : I import geometry which is step file type : For beginning I import a die Ø40. 2nd : In "GEOM" tool menu I use quick edit for decrease my Ø; for this I use the washer split with an offset value : 2.5 (to have 5mm on the Ø). After I supress the older lines with toggle edge (the older lines are on dotted line). --> And now I fail to mesh my new geometry (with F12 tool menu) When I use (size and bias) : Surf --> Display --> Mesh : The older lines (dotted) are meshing. --> Surf --> By Window --> I select the lines which I want meshing --> The older lines aren't meshing () but I don't have mesh on the new external surface of the die as the die is hollow. --> OK // --> External surface NOK I think my approach for decrease the external diameter isn't good. I think I have to create a new surface but I just create news lines. For your information I don't have the center of my die in hypermesh I hope you understand my problem and you can help me.   11. Meshing in EDITFEKO

    Hi, I have a simple problem. I create a closed cylinder in Cadfeko, union and mesh it. However, when I try it in Editfeko, I create two ellipses and a cylinder and mesh it. The number of triangles in are close ( 2158 vs 2352 ) but the number of points are different (1000 vs 7000). I took the nas output file to draw the mesh and attached in the files below. Since the number of points in Editfeko is too big, I think there is a problem with it, maybe relating to the union. Can anyone explain to me this phenomenon ? editfeko.fig cadfeko.fig
  12. Dear Admin, I would like to ask your kind advice regarding meshing. I have a 3d voxel meshed file. The voxels are defined as solid sections. Now, all I want is to remove the voxels which are not sharing at least a common face. So, if any voxel that is not sharing a face with another voxel but sharing an edge or a corner, needs to be deleted. I want this to be done for all the existing voxel elements with one single procedure and not one by one. How can I do this. Thanks in advance.

  14. Hi, I am trying to simulate a thermal ablation, where the antenna and tissue is touching each other. I am getting ERROR 3848: Wrong specification of the medium for a wire segment. However, when I set up the antenna and tissue apart I am not getting the error. As I understand this error occurs when meshing 2 touching objects with different materials. I am not sure how to fix it. Any help is much appreciated Thanks

    Hello, for a certain element type in Hypermesh I am able to switch between 1st and 2nd order. Is it possible to set also reduced integration for a chosen element, or to prescribe the location of the integration points? Thanks for all information, Matej
  17. mesh quality

    dear all, I am trying to simulate tensile test in hyperworks. For meshing I am using 2D element because it is a tensile specimen made of sheet. I am very much concerned about quality of mesh, because when i am using automesh command it generates very irregular mesh. I have seen many papers in which meshing is very fine in critical area and the quality of mesh is also good (transition of mesh). Geometry of specimen is complex because im using modified specimen for simulating shear fracture. Can anyone suggest me that how I can improve mesh quality near the center of the specimen and i also want to fine meshing near center. I have read about mesh transition but I don't know how to do it in my case. I have attached the image of mesh used by others and also mesh generated by auto mesh in my case. I have taken mesh size 1. please, help me.

    Hi .. element off set option works better when we know the thickness yes I agree .. but when we have huge distortion surfaces when we extrct mid from plastic component and we are unable to mesh at outer surface . . can I get more information about off set of The elments when component is made of plastic and it having three to four dog house in the plane Thanks
  19. Meshing a joined assembly from solidworks

    Hi, I am trying to mesh a cylinder with internal profile. I have created a design space and non design space separately in solidworks. I joined them into a new part and imported it into hypermesh. I am able to select design and non-design spaces very easily. The problem is with meshing. I think there are duplicate surfaces and free edges which created. So I have been trying this since long and it is giving meshing errors. When I do tetrameshing, a temp 2d element component is created. I tried equivalence, removing free edges and T connections. Still not able to resolve. I wanted to try deleting duplicate syrfaces, but it gives an error saying surfaces attached to solids cannot be deleted. Is there any way to mesh this model.   21. Creating a List of Nodes

    HI All, I have a very large model which has a lot of rivet connections which I plan to model using CBUSH elements. In order to easily model this, I need a list of the nodes where the rivets are to connect. I've already created fixed points at these locations in the Geometry. The way I thought to create the list of nodes is to manually create nodes at the points and renumber them 1->X. Then mesh the parts and equivalence the nodes so that it keeps the lower node ID (my logic may be flawed as I'm new to Hyperworks and this is something that would work in PATRAN). I've tried this on a small scale test model. I created the nodes (which I believe are temporary nodes) by going Geom > Nodes > Points and selecting the fixed points. I've then meshed the part, but when I equivalence (either in edges or faces) it says 0 nodes found. I assume this is because the nodes I've created are temporary or geometry nodes and not related to the mesh. However, I've exported the model as a .bdf and both the temporary nodes and the mesh nodes are recorded. Thus I'm at a loss for why equivalencing is not working! Is there any way to create mesh nodes without actually meshing, or easily create a list of the nodes I need? Cheers

    Hi, After viewing the 2D meshing web tutorials, I have a question regarding the midsurface. Do we always need to do the midsurface for 2D meshing?   24. CFD Meshing of Axial Turbine

    Hi there, I am a student working on the pre processing part of CFD analysis of Francis type turbine. I have created the 3D geometry(assembly) in Solid Works(I have 4 main parts namely, the Volute, Guide vanes, Impeller and Diffuser). These are simplified geometries, meaning I have removed all holes or gaps and have a 3D solid model with 4 main parts. I wish to export this model to hypermesh, but need help on how to set up the model. I can individually load the model and mesh it, but I am facing difficulty if I load the complete assembly. Hence I want to know if I can mesh all the components separately and then assemble the meshed geometries in one hypermesh file. Also, since the impeller is rotating, how do I impose sliding mesh condition in this case?. I want to get started as soon as possible as there a no Tuitorials of such kind for CFD meshing in Hypermesh. Any information will be useful to get started off. Thanks
