  1. Hello, I have done a free-size optimization with a displacement constraint and it has been successfully solved. However the strains are huge and the model fails. I would like to constrain the strains to obtain the optimized model. Now I have tried to do a free-size optimization with a "composite strain" constraint and then an error appears. I understand that stresses and strains are related, so I don't understand why this error appears if I have defined a 0.007 maximum strain. This is the error: *** ERROR # 1800 *** Stress/strain/force responses are applied to ply 1 which belongs to a topology or free-size domain. For stress-constrained topology or free-size optimization, please use the STRESS option on the design variable definition card. For example, I'm doing a frf on a 17-node model and I want to get the magnitude-and-phase response separated by columns and by nodes from all nodes, how do I create a pattern to just run it without having to extract the answer node by node? For models with more elements this takes a lot of time.
  3. Output of optional responses

    Dear all, I have a question regarding the output of optional responses. I would like to have optional responses like Comp/volFrac/Mass/Stress/... in the output file, even if they are not constraint. I know that I have to use resprint to have all constraint responses in the output and dreport for not constraint responses. But I can not find a really good description of how to use dreport. Do I have to use rebsub in the subcases? Why do I get an error sometimes? I already used dreport and it worked out but not for all responses. So could you give me a desription of how to use dreport just to make sure I have no mistake in my modell? And could someone tell me how to specifie a response "above" the first subcase!?   4. Dear community, I am wondering if it is possible to print the responses defined for optistruct (as per optimization) to output file even if optimization is not performed (-optskip). This could be very useful to verify a model, in terms of constraints fulfilment, without performing an optimization. I know that it is possible to print all unretained responses to output file with "RESPRINT = option", but this is not working if optimization is not running. Any suggestion?   5. Hello All, I have two questions 1. I am trying to do a DOE in Hyperstudy (2017) with ABAQUS (2017) as Solver. I created a new model, parametrized the XX.tpl file, registered the solver and typed XX.INP in solver input file field. The problem occured when i tried to define a response. I ran the simulation in Abaqus once to get the .odb file. I then put the file in 'approaches\nom_1\run__00001\m_1' to define responses. But when i tried to drag the file into the work area, it says 'file not recognized by Hyperstudy reader' and Hyperstudy text extractor gets selected. Please help me with this problem. 2. Is it possible to do DOE for physical experiments (i.e. without creating an expression for evaluating responses from Design variables) ? Thank you, WBR R: Prasaenna

    Hi everybody, I'm doing a shape optimization of a NLSTAT analysis (nonlinear contact and material are involved). I need stress or strain responses but, as soon as I launch the optimization, this error is shown to me: Which responses are possible to use with this type of optimization? Hello everyone, I am trying to do mass optimisation for a part in Optistruct, but i was confused when i set a responses, there are so many responses, such as "compliance, volume, static displacement, volume fraction“ and so on. I did read some tutorials and guide about the responses, and also the definition of the responses. But its for me is like a general information, i still have no idea which responses should I choose, when i set up my model. It would be very nice if you can introduce me the principle of choosing the responses or share me more specifical examples or tutorials or whatever more to make me clear.   8. Hello, I have defined dconstraint for my free size and size optimization of my composite layup. there I am trying to reach a maximum displacement of 0.7mm. With this, I am not sure what bound to set, in order to get a sufficient displacement solution. Can you hell me out with this problem? THank you in advance for your help. Kind regards Dean
