  1. Progressive Mesh

Hi, I would like to know how to mesh a component more and more thinner with a growth rate like on this figure. Can anyone help me to find out how to do it please ? It for a rectangle (2D component). Thanks, regards, Charlotte
  2. View Flux mesh in SimLab

Hi. At a recent Flux conference, I heard that SimLab has very interesting tools for viewing a mesh and I was hoping to use it to observe the meshing of the air in my 3D models, which is an absolute pain in Flux itself. Is there any documentation on how I can open my meshed geometry from Flux in SimLab? Thank you in advance! Romain
  3. Hello, I need to calculate RCS of large cube (8x2x1.5 m) at 70 GHz. Unfortunatelly, FEKO solver triangulates my object in too dense grid. Is there any way to reduce total simulation time? Are there any settings which I can play with to optimize my simulation? I used the most coarse settings of the meshgrid in my simulation. But it still works to loooooong.... BR, Dimon
  4. Hi All I know that in shell structures, when we have the midsurface, we verify that there are no free edges, what about two solid bodies, specially if I have had to trim the solid, since a part is revolutio and the other part is an extrusion, so they might need different meshing techniques ? how can I assure the mesh in continuous ?
  5. Meshing Error

Hello, I am working on setting up a model for a simple topology optimization and I am consistently running into the same error when trying to form a mesh. I have meshed the entire design space and part of the non-design space but the final solid always results in an error of "1 edges failed nodal setup. Meshing failed". I have not been able to find any information about this error online so far. I have attached a photo of the error message and a photo of my model prior to meshing. The attached model includes the failed mesh as a "tmp" component. Is there an error in my geometry? How would I be able to mesh this final solid? Thanks ComparisonStudyModel.hm
  6. The tcl command *set_meshedgeparams 0 1 0 does not seem to work in HM 2017 however it works just fine in 14. Is there any reason this could be happening and any way to correct it ? I am trying to use *set_meshedgeparams as a precursor command to *hmmeshspline Are any of the above commands deprecated in HM 2017 ? Thanks. Any help is appreciated.
  7. Hi all what is the meaning of the number in tetcollpase blank which is by default set to 0.3 ?
  8. Hi All If I get mesh quality error, and even after disabling the mesh quality check I get a fatal error. how is it possible to remesh a meshed part ? does the mesh overwrites ? should I apply the correlating BC and loads again ? what about material and properties?
  9. Hi All How do we assure a mesh continuity on the border between two spherical parts, one inside the other one, in contact with each other?
  10. Solid Map

Is the Solid map option usable only in case the solid volume between the two meshed surfaces does not contain any voids , like bolt holes ? in the case of contrary what can be the mesh strategy to mesh a volume that has some holes that pass through the body ?
  11. Element equivalent to 2D Bernoulli-Euler

Hello, I would like to know the equivalent element of 2D Bernoulli-Euler in Hypermesh?
  12. Hello everyone, I am having trouble exporting the mesh from Hypermesh. Some white spaces separating the fields are missing. *) With the RADIOSS profile, the first three nodes of the grid data look like this. 1 10.4352852680878 0.374999999999996 1.69690861652916 2 10.0920996147679-3.8857805861880E-15 1.59540682856021 3 10.2957517115474-3.5527136788005E-15 1.49409343503715 *) The situation is even worse with OptiStruct. The output file (first three nodes) looks like this. GRID 1 10.435290.375 1.696909 GRID 2 10.0921 0.0 1.595407 GRID 3 10.295750.0 1.494093 I don't want to create white space manually because the meshes I work with, in general, contain thousands of nodes. So, I need a proper solution for this issue. I am using the HyperWorks14.0 - student version. Thanks, Chenna.
  13. Guidelines for meshing

I am new to HyperWorks.I have to mesh a complex profile in HyperWorks. Please go through the shared model. Please give me some suggestions, and I need hexa mesh. Thanks, Rahul
  14. Analysis problem

Hello Getting a problem in analysis, my 3D geometry goes into single plane during analysis.
  15. Connectivity of elements

Is it important to have smooth connected lines between different meshed components? What are consequences of not having the connectivity?
  16. Hey guys, maybe I am unaware of a setting which causes this, but at least to me, this is strange. I have a modified version of the CClip Tutorial and when I mesh it, the geometry changes and neither the geometry nor the mesh has a node where it should be. .gif and .hm attached. Thanks in advance, Merula meshChangesGeom.hm
  17. A Fine and a perfect mesh

Hi, I have a question which one is called as a Perfect mesh or Fine mesh? When or under which conditions, my meshing is said to be a perfect mesh? Thank you
  18. Mesh on Fillet surfaces

I tried meshing in a Fillet edge whose Fillet radius is 3. I specified element size of 0.5 but I cant able to cover the fillet surface entirely. I also tried on the fillet surface of intersection where Cylinder and a Flat plate meets. How to overcome this issue? I varied Element Size and Element density too. Thank you in Advance
  19. Mesh along a curved surface - Cross Section varies

Hi, I tried to mesh a Curved Surface whose cross section diameter varies from the source surface to destination surface. I tried solidmesh and Spin (Curved generated is mid-curve) results in mesh doesn't coincide with Dest surface. Thank you in Advance
  20. Mesh & Surf translate

Hi All, Is it possible to duplicate and translate a surface with existing mesh at one time (both surfs & mesh)? I would like to create a multiple copies of a surface with mesh prepared first at the pattern component. How to achieve this in a fast way? Thanks.
  21. What is p-type and h-type mesh?

Hi, I need a difference between ptype and htype meshing. Gone through various books, not able to get concept clearly. Thank you in Advance.
  22. Undo Option in HyperWorks

How to undo the last command in HyperWorks? Usually, Analysis software wont allow users to undo. There is no undo option. Is there any possibility to undo the last command?
  23. Some mistake in meshing

Hello, I'm working on a model the third day and can't understand what is the mistake in the meshing parametres. Once I got to build and can't anymore, don't understand what the problem is. sector-100mkr-1gr-narost-001.acs
  24. 2D Automesh with Holes

I'm a relatively new user of Hypermesh v12.0 and have run into an issue when trying to use the 2D Automesh on a particular geometry. I am meshing an elliptical cylinder with interior stiffeners, i.e., frames, intercostals, etc. that are bolted together. I am modeling the vessel with 2D, first order elements and am modeling all fasteners and fastener holes. The problem that I run into is that the 2D automesher (including midsurface mesher) performs one of three operations: Failed surface mesh Meshes only around the holes (this is when I specify washers in the parameter/criteria files) Meshes over holes/cutouts that are below a certain diameter I've reworked and modified all parameters and criteria that I feel are relevant and even those that I feel are irrelevant. Further, when I perform topological cleanup and have the preprocessor locate and tag holes, it tags all holes except for those above a certain diameter (so Hypermesh is treating the larger and smaller cutouts differently). No matter what, I cannot mesh this structure and the direction that I feel I am taking now is non-intuitive and quite frankly arbitrary. Any guidance would be appreciated.
