  1. Hello, I am trying to run a linear static analysis which has 36 loadsteps. I need to apply these loadsteps in sequence and need the results from the previous step to be retained for the next step. I am trying to use the statsub(preload) card but it gives an error that subcases cannot be nested. What is the right way to do this in a linear static analysis.
  2. linear static with contacts

    I am carrying out a linear static loading of helical spring, which is interfaced between two plates and have defined slide contact between the spring and the plates. Upon applying the load to the top plate i obtained the spcf forces on the bottom plate nodes. However, I am obtaining unexpectedly high loads at the contacts (100 times higher than the loading force~1000). Am i doing something wrong in setting up the contacts? I am attaching pictures of result, setup and contact surfaces for clarity
  3. Hai all, I am doing a linear static analysis by optistruct, when i try to run there show an error "fixed boundary condition in spc is not supported for linear static analysis" what will be the reason for this error? Please help me to understand the error and its solution. best regards, Dani
  4. Linear Static Analysis.

    Hi, I have attached a running board linear static analysis. I’m getting a deflection of about 0.0053mm deflection. But in real scenario they are experiencing 1 to 5mm deflection. Instead of applying load on REB3 if I applied load as a point load (single point in the middle of 200 x 80 mm) I’m getting deflection of 3mm. So what should I do here? Should I use REB3 or point load for a cross section of 200 X 80 mm Thanks, Vijay
  5. Error # 2148

    Hello, I am new to Optistruct and having a repeating error for my 2D linear static topology optimization. When I try to run it w/Optistruct, the error that I get is: *** ERROR # 2148 *** Invalid design problem. All the sensitivities of response 2 (objective) are zero. My response(2) is compliance, and I have a simple maximum constraint on volume fraction as my other response. Any ideas about a possible reason for this error? Thanks, rbay
