  1. HUByx overview

    HUByx is a finite element human body model developed by CEDREM. It features many internal organs as well as a representation of the internal fluid. This enables a pressure propagation inside the body due to an impact or a blast. The model has been validated for two kinds of loadings. The first one is medium speed impacts. The numerical force vs deflection curves at different locations were compared to the experimental ones. The second one is blast loading. An experimental setup with torso surrogates was reproduced. The numerical pressure vs time curves in different organs were compared to experimental ones. A presentation video is available. For now, only the torso is available in the Academic Partner Alliance.   3. Hi, I am currently modelling a truss structure made up of carbon fiber composite tubes with the thickness of 1mm. I have created 1D CBAR elements as the input properties. Now the problem is with the creation of material properties. Any one have modeled previously composite tubes? Any inputs or suggestions would be helpful for me.. Thank you.
  4. Hypermesh Simple Contact

    Hello, I'm trying to run a 3 point bend test. The supports doesn't matter, if possible i would like to make it rigid, but to avoid stress concentration in a point i need to model this contact between the support and the I beam. How can i do this, or find some tutorial more focused ? Thanks !
  5. I had performed simulation of Incremental sheet forming process in Hyperworks 12.0. In this analysis I compared the two material law (Law52 and Law2) keeping all conditions same. The Gurson (Law52) based model takes 26.3 hrs for simulation while J-C (Law2) based model takes 17.23 hrs for the same analysis. Why Gurson model takes more time for analysis?
  6. How to perform craig-bampton method

    I have been working on Craig-Bampton method for normal mode analysis in which I aim to get a faster computational time result for 16 modes. Until now I unable to do so. I tried to use all the information obtained from the internet, but I failed miserably since I have no idea how to do it. I'm working with superelement . Just a simple structure. One superelement and one residual. With this, I attached my explanation of the structure I'm working with.

  8. Hello! I am currently working on the analysis of a two piece wheel hub for a wheel hub drive. The model contains apart from the mesh a few contacts (some of them with a negative clearance for bolt pretension) and springs to modell the stiffness of the wheel bearings. My problem is that the analysis does converge pretty well but there are no results attached. I already tried to define several ouputs with different options but I never got results. If I just change the load step to "linear static" and run the analysis there are results. Did someone have the same problem already or does someone have an idea what could be my fault? I am working with HW 13 and Optistruct. Many thanks in advance! Regards, Max
  9. Dear colleagues, I need your help to find the Prony series coefficients using DMA frequency sweep, so I can use them in a FEA study. The data I got from the test are 50 points for Loss modulus, storage modulus, tan delta, strain and amplitude Vs. Frequency. I need to calculate either relative moduli Vs. relaxation time, or shear modulus Vs. time, or Bulk modulus Vs. time. Your advice will be highly appreciated Best regards, Gerges Youssef
  10. Hi all, I'd like to use Matlab to control OptiStruct -- change design variables and run the analysis. My intent is to use numerical methods scripts I've written in Matlab and loop back and forth between Matlab and OptiStruct. The process would run as follows: 1. Matlab -- numerical methods algorithm takes in FEA results, outputs design variables 2. Optistruct -- takes in design variables, runs FEA and outputs results (.out file) 3. Repeat Can anyone help me run OptiStruct from Matlab? More generally, does anyone have experience running OptiStruct externally? Thank you in advance for any help! Best, Alex
